Oh, wankage. X-Files and Buffy and X-Men are full of it. I remember the heyday of X-Files, when people made fun of other people's miscarriage and spousal death. I can't remember the number of time I've been told I had the IQ of the 45 or that I could do everyone a favor by falling into a coma.

Good days.

Now, according to fandom_wank, the only decent wank X-Files brings out is that "barf" is a bad word to use. How the mighty has fallen.

Which is not to say I love it when everyone bitches at each other. I mean, yeah, I do, especially when one dominate group of people refuse to let other people voice their opinions. But I remember coming to the Sakura Board four years ago and being shocked that people here disagreed and fought and still liked, respected, and laughed with each other. It was the first place I saw as home.

To those of you who wished people in the X-fandom could all get along, you should have been here four years ago. It went on for about two years, I believe. You could ask a newbie, "Are you an S/Ser or a S/Ker" (that was the initiation question), and didn't have to worry about a flamewar coming out of that. You could say you thought so-and-so sucked, and not have to worry that you would wanked for it. You could tell someone that they sucked for thinking so-and-so sucked, and still remain friends. Sure, there was bickering, some people who I didn't really get along with, but mostly, it was good clean fun.

Remember the entrails fight? ^______^

Or the "Most Unpopular Opinion" thread? I would *never* try that thread nowadays.

The weird thing is... we didn't have to be nice to each other. Kerianne was vocal in her "I'm sick the the Big Four Fans" (and of course the majority of the people here were Big Four fans), I did some head-biting and some CAPITAL LETTER ABUSES BECAUSE I WAS SO MAD! and Alison brought in her lovely snarkage and told people where to go (she is so sexy when she's snarky *hearts*), and Satsuki-chan would bring her brutal honesty, and ali would disagree with *everything* I said and everything everyone else said, and Audrey would think I was on drugs and I had to constantly apologize to her *grin*, an Shizuka would whine and bitch and disappear, and Maria would get huffy if any of her friends were bitched at, and Ammie was always nice and sweet but did at one time tell me quite acidly that I was wrong about Arashi being boring, and you know what? We still all get along.

And I since then have agreed with Ammie and Satsuki-chan that indeed, Arashi was more interesting than I gave her credit for, and I've come to love the shrine maiden quite a bit.

We had some other people come and go. Some were vocals about their disagreements, and we (those regulars who disagreed with them; other of course agreed with them and sided with them) hashed it out but it never got the level of personal attacks. No, it never did, now that I think about it. What got attacked was ideas, "disillusions" *chuckling* (I remember ali telling me she loved me, no matter how misguided I was about S/K), comments, but never the person. Yes, I lost my temper sometimes and bit off a few heads, but I *always* apologized for it afterwards.

Now that it's good trait or anything. I was one hot-headed little vixen back then.

Other than arguments, we had a lot of fun coming up with silly threads (Sarai and Ammie were great at this), and making recommandations to each other (My favorite books are the ones I received from friends here). I should have never told Shizuka to read HP. That's when she left us *shed tears* And we sang songs!

*snickers* I remember having to sing the rainbow song because Alison or Ammie made some NC-17 comment about I forget what, but it makes me giggles to think of it. Oh, this was the birthplace of Kamui/Subaru with 14 kids and Hinoto's tentacles.

Yes, that was pointless and self-indulgent. Oh well. Some good memories from when the place wank-free (well, more than less, we did have a couple of flamewars), but at the same time, not necessarily nice ^___^

Ammie, you still suck!
