While looking through X10, I noticed two profiles in particular that I initially thought were the same person. It, in turn, lead to certain speculations about the family ties that we haven't seen in X thus far.
The people in question? Kakyou and Saya.
The reasoning?
1. CLAMP seems to love to play with family that's unexpected. Take Eriol and Fujitaka and Sakura in the CCS manga. Wasn't there also something similar in Wish as well?
2. Dreamgazers, both. It's a hereditary ability, as Saya mentions that Kotori inherited her ability in a stronger measure. Kakyou seems younger than Saya, which brings me to my next point.
3. Saya mentions in X10 'since she's come to the shrine...' it's a little odd phrasing, and may be a Viz translation, but it indicates to me that she's not always been in the area, and it's not just her marriage that's brought her there. I wonder if, perhaps, she was handed over for care when a stronger Dreamgazer (that is to say, Kakyou) began to develop his ability.
4. Kakyou himself was attempting to talk to Kotori, to warn her of what was to come; was this because it was something he believed had to happen, because he was lonely, or because he was family? It makes me curious.
5. Physical resemblance. Blonde hair, golden(-brown) eyes. If you look at Saya's profile from X10 (there's one on the top of one page that made me blink and wonder for a moment why Kakyou was in the scene of the past...) and compare it to kakyou's, it's remarkably similar; the same long eye-shape, the curve of the face, too. CLAMP doesn't have the problem that a lot of mangaka do when creating characters; they don't usually have such an overlap in the same series. (Other series, however...)
