Well, except the S/S part.

Yeah, there's not too much point going over this again. Some people find Kusanagi to be painfully dull and unattractive to boot, others don't. A great deal of the annoyance towards him likely came from the anime, which invented scenes and backgrounds for the Yuzuriha/Kusanagi relationship that didn't exist in the manga, and cut away several scenes from the more popular relationships. A lot of people don't find much meat to the character- myself included- which did have a lot of potential to be interesting, given his take on the Destiny War, but CLAMP didn't GO anywhere with it. Given how close the series is to completion, they likely won't, either. Each to their own tastes though, I suppose.

He also had the grave misfortune of being a relatively plain character in a series full of breathtaking beauties, tortured bishounen, stylish biseinen, and striking young men with enough sex appeal to end the world ;). Normally he'd stand out in a shoujo manga because of his masculinity, but X has Seishirou and Fuuma- who have the same amount of delightful testosterone sans the forked eyebrows and plus a sense of fashion.

Some people find him attractive, of course. *nods above* (Pervert ;)).

As for the pedophile thing... well, I find North American society in general looks upon Junior High School and Middle School students having relationships with older people very differently than High School students in such relationships. I doubt anyone would be complaining if Arashi was having a relationship with an older man- it's the same with Subaru. Those few years do make the difference.

Not that Yuzuriha and Kusanagi have a canon sexual relationship, but the potential is there. My main gripe with it has less to do with ages and more to do with relative appeal, but that's a matter of opinion.
