What a depressing thought. ;_; But the manga market in Japan is so big that even series that aren't bestsellers will continue to be published. My understanding is that mangaka, as the copyright holders of their own work, will see a series through to its finish regardless of popularity. Publishing companies, even semi-large ones such as Kadokawa Shoten, can afford to publish at a loss because the market is so damn...huge. *_* The only things that keep a series from continuing are: [1] really really really really crappy reviews, [2] the magazine it was running in died, [3] the publisher decides to no longer run the series in a magazine (in which the mangaka can decide to publish the rest of the series as kakioroshi or let it drop), [4] mangaka looses interest, or [5] mangaka dies.

(In contrast to the US comic market, where publishers hold the rights to a series and employ writers and artists to work on them. In this case, because the market is so much smaller, it's more likely for a publisher to drop a series that isn't selling well.)

I wonder if they care even a fraction at all. That's part of the reason why I suggested sending them an e-mail in Japanese. We can disguise ourselves, hehehehe (sneakeh sneakeh). ^^

Speaking of which, I didn't get the opportunity to flip through my "Asuka" and search out contact info (I'm back in Hell-erm, the dorms, so no "Asuka" for me). But if anyone is that dedicated I'm sure they've got an e-mail address somewhere online.
