Tarot cards basically incorporate a lot of things into their symbolism, and are actually a quite surprising mash of pagan (such as celtic) and Christian (not to mention some Jewish) symbolism. And tarot cards themselves probably originated in Egypt, where they were passed along to gypsies, and eventually became popular among the nobility of several European nations. Things like that.
