My theory is that Matsushita Youko is a bad hack.

If you've had the chance to read the "author's notes" scattered around the YnM mangas, there is one particular note where Youko was rather upset (more like "pissed off") with fans who write to her with questions about other manga. I suspect that the fans were probably questioning her about the similarities to Tokyo Babylon. Anyhow, instead of addressing the fans' concerns, Youko tried to take the moral high ground by insisting that writing to her about other mangaka is being downright rude to her. I think she's just trying to be evasive.

There are other examples of her "high and mighty" attitude. In another author's notes, she expressed displeasure with fans who send her mails written on decorative papers and using pencils or coloured pens. She even gave instructions for the type of paper and pens to use when writing to her. One could be forgiven for thinking that we're writing a job resume.

Personally, after seeing her recent artworks for YnM, the fans have every right to demand that she brush up on her skills (or sack her assistants). She is certainly insulting her fans by making them fork out hard-earned money for shoddy work.
