I'm so glad you asked that. We've been wondering the same thing, since so many of us in my hood are living in "empty nests" now.

In my hood, as elders, most of us do the same things we did as adults. Most elders continue to work. Those that retire use their extra time to spend time with their families or friends or take up hobbies that they didn't have time for when they were working.

We continue living in our homes. Since our hood opened a university, most of the kids have moved into their own places. I kind of hope the younger ones choose to move back home after they graduate so the houses stay in the family and so that none of us are left living all alone when our spouses die.

I'd like to hear more about retirement homes from the hoods that have them, in case we ever decide to go that route.
