Well, I got 3 teenage daughters and I never really thought of lock them up in their room. We have a rule though, they can go to community lots and bring home friends etc as often as they like as long as they manage no less than A at school. I don't plan to blame them in case they end up with a B, but I think it's important to give them the freedom but require something back. Call it a trade, although it's a win/win on their part, of course.
