I can understand that. It's admirable for both of you to put the past behind you and at least attempt to have a civil, friendly relationship.

I am truly excited about the holidays this year! It will be my first holiday in a long time without Lawrence around, and I intend on making the best of it. I have been thinking of throwing a small party later this month to celebrate autumn's arrival. Perhaps you'd care to come for a visit and join me?

Yes, unfortunately there is a trial. Abram never had a will, and his children are all young. Abram's sister Rebecca has also shown interest in taking the children in – in addition to his other family members – and because she's also left the Amish church, she feels that the children would adapt better in her home rather than with their devoutly Amish grandmother and Amish aunts and uncles.

The thing is, the children have never known either their grandparents or their aunt. Abram was Shunned, and his parents had no contact with him (well, that his mother would admit) until after his father passed away. And they may have met their Aunt once or twice in their entire lives!

No matter what happens, I'm sure the children will end up with someone from their family though. Abram adopted all his children, and I'm sure it would break his heart to have them sent back to the orphanage. No, that wouldn't happen. It couldn't! They're such sweet kids, too... Anna Mae, his oldest, is the most mature teenager you'd ever meet. His younger daughter, Nellie, is as sweet as sugar, and his boy, Luke, is a little gentleman. They're just the kindest children! I'm sure everything will work out for them.
