I agree with you Bryan. But I was not surprised after reading Chapter 15 about the United States. But if you look into memphis city schools today, (I don't know about Shelby County schools), you'll find where they have replaced the "good snacks" such as cookies, rice krispy treats, cakes, etc. for "healthy" snacks such as pretzles, low-fat ice cream or yogurt, or some type of grain donut. In some schools, they've taken out drink machines and added the juice machines, if any at all. And of course, no more extreme large helpings of spaghetti, mashed potatoes and those pizzas we all loved. Also, as much as I loved P.E. when I was in high school, that is becoming a least favorite and there isn't even much HOOPLA about sports or extracurricular physical activities. As you stated, adolescents just want to go home and compete with one another in XBOX 360, P.S. 111, etc. The only part of the body getting exercise is hands and fingers!!!
