Armed with backstage passes we hit the El Macombo to see the Battle of the Bands. It wasn't much of a battle as the Betty Shyne band won hands down. No it wasn't because their main guy, Dylan, sold thousands of tickets, it was simply they were great. I heard whispers in the crowd that the Rolling Stones had played at the same venue twice. The obvious comparison was Betty Shyne and the Stones. Can't get a better compliment than that. Well done Dylan, it was, as Peter Ivan would say, a "cracker" of a night. While your Uncle Tim was still somewhat critical of the performance, just accept the fact it is tough love and he means well. The passes backstage were fabulous and we felt like one of the groupies that follow Betty Shyne from gig to gig. In terms of rating, Betty Shyne is a must see! The Mayor
