This morning Wednesday 3 March 2010, Phillip Choon Tee Lim (50) arrives back into Malaysia after serving 18 years minimum sentence (out of 24 years).
He was one of 2 killers who was jailed for the murder of prominent heart surgeon Dr. Victor Chang after a botched extortion and kidnap attempt in Sydney on Dr. Chang in 1991.

Lim was paroled recently for being a good "model" prisoner -but there were loud protests at him being released on parole because this means that Lim will be deported immeditaely back to Malaysia where there will be no supervision of his parole conditions.
In other words - Lim will virtually be a 'free' man once back on Malaysian soil.
The State Government tried to keep him in jail for another year - but the further detention of Lim was deemed illegal by the Supreme Court last week, so he was on board a MAS flight to KL last night (Tuesday 2 March).

This guy is damn lucky because he would have been hung if tried in Malaysia or Singapore for the same offence.
Anyhow, you have got him back in your society now.

FYI the other guy jailed for the murder, Liew was given 26 years and if his case follows Lim's example - he will be back in KL sometime during 2012. Good luck!!
