Captain, Ray, Dr et al,
I hear what you folks say and Iam sure you are quite right. Who knows, one day I may just take the trip, down memory lane -- Klang of the 50s, 60s, which I miss a great deal. Strange isn't it. When young we took the place for granted, never expecting things to change. Even the kopitiam at the corner of oh, what is the name of the road again, leading to the Chinese School where my parents used to teach? Going to the cinema on a Saturday for 10c, black market of course, watching cowboys & indians. A swim at "Japan Jungle", or catch fighting fish in the rubber estate drains, and the water was so clean than to support tropical fish life. And then comes festivals, nevermind if it was an Indian, Christian, Hindu, Chinese or Muslim festival, we always found a classmate to celebrate with. Perhaps that's the loss innocence that we missed.
Ray, sounds like your travels in Malaysia and Singapore is the way to go. Enjoy. Say hi to any of our old friends if you see them in your travel.
Dr. You are quite right in your observations. Regarding jokes, regreatably not all have a thick skin, and I guess we just have to let it be. Me, you can call me anything, as long as you realise what you are doing.
Lance Tan is on the way to here, think to visit daughter, sometime end of this month. We have agreed to have a bowl of noodle or something when he is here. Inspector is not here around that time. Pity, else it will be a class reunion in this southern city (of three old people?) Hopefully I will catch up all the news of Klang?
Captain: Go for it. Fly and enjoy. And should you fly past Melbourne again, let's have a bowl of noodle and catch up for old time sake.
Meanwhile, our Chinese Heritage Organisationcontinues with our work. A gentleman (he is 84) whose Chinese grandfather was here during the gold rush asked us to do his family history. More on that at the right time.
Enjoy all. Regards, LG
