Dear all

Hope someone is able to pen a few paragraphs on 'The Life and times of Loh Siew Kian', those are the missing chapters I know so little about - a period of over 45 years, i.e., until recent years when we started to get together again.

Even so, it was only after his death that it dawned upon me that he was single person, and never married?? Perhaps, my abode in the depths of Kinta Valley for so many years has resulted in my ignorance about the affairs of our diminishing group of friends in Klang and elsewhere.

I am not a religious man, but I am sure the sincere thoughts and prayers of those amongst who are, would be for him to rest in eternal peace.

The Life and times of Loh Siew Kian

Dear Fellow Classmates,

I know Loh Siew Kian from Form 1 in 1960 – (Wow, that’s 50 years ago!). I think he stayed behind LG (Yew Mun’s) house, opposite Klang High School. From what I know very vaguely, he had a kidney transplant, donated by his sister. Thereafter, he had another one done in China.

He was a smart student in school and became a Mechanical Engineer. I think he eventually became a Consultant Engineer, setting a partnership with another friend. He was never married and lived with his brother and sister-in-law.

Even though I know him for a long time, he never spoke much about himself, a taciturn person – saying very little and not communicating much. Nevertheless, I often invite him to most of our small gatherings in the past – usually with Liang Sang Chong, Ng Eng Hock, Teoh Yan Sing, Johnny Ho, Lee Kok Soo or Wong Joon Tuang until the last 5 years or so.

I think he became quite religious in the end. Because of his kidney problem, I was told that he had to make use of the dialysis machine now and then. I visited him once at the University Hospital as he was recovering from an illness; I think it was related to his kidney. Liang told me he had been in and out of hospital for a while.

These are the scant details I know about Loh Siew Kian. Perhaps some of his closer friends – Johnny Ho, Liang Sang Chong or others may know more about him. Unfortunately, not many are using our Message Board. I wish more will come in and contribute something to our fellow classmate and lengthen the story…

I am not religious but I wish his soul will rest in peace. Good Bye Siew Kian, my friend!

Below are some of the photos I took of him in my house and the others in Klang High School:-
