Subject: Visit to the book store

(As the scene opens up we find ourselves standing inside of an American bookstore located somewhere in the shopping district of Tokyo. The interesting thing about this book store is that it only carries books written in English, and in doing so most of its clients are American military and tourist. Like any other bookstore the walls are lined with shelves that have numerous books lined… stacked… and shoved into every nook and cranny to maximize the space available. Several bins are located through out the store with various types of specials on the books inside of them… mostly discounts of one kind or another.

Suddenly a ‘beep’ can be heard as the front door opens and closes softly. In steps none other than Gyon, dressed in a pair of jeans and a black “Savior’ T-shirt. His long blonde hair is pulled back into a ponytail and a smile is on his face. He slowly makes his way over to the counter where we see an American standing behind the counter…)

Young Man: Good day sir… can I help you with anything?

(Gyon looks at the young man strangely for a moment…)

Gyon: Kind surprised to see an American working in a store over here…

(The young man smiles…)

Young Man: Yeah well my dad is military and I took a job off base to earn some extra spending cash while we he was stationed here. It works out great cause I’m dealing with mostly Americans anyway so I don’t have to learn the language and most of the customers can understand what I’m saying.

Besides, what’s the point of learning a new language when in a few months we’ll be in some other country.

Gyon: I can sympathize… I got shuffled around a good bit as a kid myself. Funny thing is now that I able to stay in one place I’m still always on the go with my job.

Young Man: Kinda funny ain’t it. So is there a particular kind of book you are looking for or just browsing?

Gyon: Actually I’m curious about a certain book… “Tomorrow When Greatness Was Born”.

Young Man: Ahhh… the biography about Brett Healey. You a fan?

Gyon: No can’t say that I am… let’s just say it’s professional curiosity.

Young Man: Well I wish you the best of luck reading it.

Gyon: You mean your out?

Young Man: Out? Far from it! We have tried everything to sell that book but it just won’t sell. We have discounted it multiple times but it just won’t sell. But I mean what do you expect when the guy the book was written for is an idiot. I mean he doesn’t even know the difference between and biography and an autobiography.

Secondly it’s one of the shortest books ever written. I mean sure, the book is based on his career… WHAT CAREER? He’s a newbie to a wrestling federation where he has had; if he’s lucky, what four to five matches. Kind of a premature book if you ask me.

Gyon: I hear ya… so where can I find the book?

(The man laughs…)

Young Man: That’s funny cause for the longest time we have been trying to figure out where to keep the book… I mean what to list it as.

You see usually when a book only has a handful of pages and more pictures than words we put it in the children’s section. But to be honest ‘wrestling’ is a big seller in the kids books. We couldn’t store it with the other biographies and such cause well… it would just be embarrassing not to mention and insult.

Can’t list it with the sports cause well to be honest, that guy is no athlete… We even went as far as trying to list it with the comics and the magazines… but the customers complained that it was too short.

Gyon: Sounds like you have had your hands full.

Young Man: You can say that again. So finally we just put it in the bin in the back and gave the price a mark down.

Gyon: In the back?

Young Man: Yeah just head down the center aisle and at the rear of the store turn left. The book is in a large metal bin just in front of the coloring books.

Gyon: Thanks

(Gyon turns from the counter and heads towards the back of the store… as he reaches the back of the store and turns left and easily finds the bin of books. Above the bin is a sign that says ‘90% OFF’… Gyon chuckles and shakes his head… he reaches down and pulls one of the books out of the and looks for a moment then opens it to make sure the pages are still inside. He then shakes his head again and heads to the front…)

Young Man: Find it?

Gyon: Sure did…

(Gyon places the book on the counter and the young man picks it up…)

Gyon: Your right it is a small book… I had to open it to make sure the pages where still intact.

Young Man: I know… some old guy grabbed several of them thinking they were book covers. Once he found out differently he put them all back.

Gyon: Even at 90% off?

(The young man laughs…)

Young Man: That ain’t even the best part… see this red dot on the cover?

(The young man points to a red dot sticker placed on the upper right corner of the books cover…)

Young Man: That means that the book is always two for one.

Gyon: Wait a minute? The book is 90% off the cover price…

Young Man: Yup…

Gyon: And also two for one…

Young Man: Yup…

Gyon: …and it still won’t sell!?

Young Man: Crazy ain’t it.

Gyon: Crazy nothing… that’s freaking hilarious!

(Both Gyon and the young man laugh as the scene slowly fades out to black…)
