Subject: Getting ready to go, Part 1

(Scene opens in the Glasgow hotel room of Matt Thornhill. Thornhill is wearing a green pair of Adidas pants and a CWF T-shirt. He is gathering up the last few remaining items he has scattered around the somewhat small, but nicely decorated room. Thornhill looks around him, sighs a contented sigh, and begins to think about the past week or two�)

**It really has been kind of a whirlwind, hasn�t it? One day, I�m an unemployed former collegiate wrestler�the next, I�ve signed a contract with the CWF, and I�m quickly on a plane to Scotland to join the organization in the midst of their international tour. Then, on top of that, I�m actually able to make a meaningful impact on the show. A positive impact.**

(Thornhill is jolted out of his thoughts by the sound of his cell phone ringing. A Sony V60 World-band phone, provided to him by the CWF for the sole purpose of being accessible anywhere at any time. He has thought about this before�the joy of getting that call that sends him off on a public relations trip: speaking to a school of children about following their dreams, or showing up at a hospital to help make a dying kid�s dream come true. However, all of that will have to wait�no-one knows who this man is yet. After all, he�s only made one appea---

This thought, much like the last, is cut off by another ring of the phone. Thornhill checks the Caller ID to see that it is one of the CWF interviewers. Sighing at the interruption, Thornhill answers the phone with a cheerful�)

Thornhill: Hello! How are you doing?

Interviewer: Hello there, Thornhill. This is The CWF Interview Guy. We�re calling you LIVE from our internet radio show. Sorry about the unscheduled call. I hope we didn�t catch you at a bad time�

(Thornhill zips up his bag and sits down for a moment, willing to answer the man�s questions�can�t disappoint an internet radio audience�)

Thornhill: Not at all. I was just gathering my things up in my hotel room in Glasgow, and getting ready to head down to the airport. Going to go straight over to Lisbon and see a few of the sights over there.

Interviewer: Wow�you�re still in Glasgow? Most of the other guys have already left. Why are you still there?

T: I just wanted to have a little bit of time to myself�to catch my breath a bit. It�s been kind of a busy week for me�

I: �Capped off by your appearance at Glory on Wednesday. Tell us, if you don�t mind�why did you interfere in that mat�

(Thornhill, almost angrily, cuts the interviewer short.)

T: Whoa whoa WHOA�wait just a second there. I didn�t interfere in any match! I came down to help out a man who deserved to have the odds evened out a bit. Kevin Williams didn�t need to have that kind of garbage piled on him. Besides that, I didn�t like some of the stuff DBH was saying�

I: I guess you�re liking the match you have booked on next week�s Glory�yourself and TJ Raven vs. DBH and Hardcore Khan�with none other than KEVIN WILLIAMS as the special guest referee! What are your thoughts on this match?

T: *laughing* Well, I�m obviously very excited about this match, seeing as how it�s my official debut. I�m more excited, though, because of the guys I�m stepping into the ring against. Some of the rising, up-and-coming CWF superstars will be in this ring to put on a show. The comment was made last week on Glory that newcomers come in and try to make an impact immediately. Well, imagine getting your newcomers together in a tag match against each other�there should definitely be some fireworks. Onto the competition. DBH, to be honest, I have to give you some credit. You seem to try to do more in the CWF than most. However, you do it with the least amount of wrestling skill. I felt some of your shots this past week on Glory, and to be honest, you need to find a pair of butthugger bell-bottoms and start crowing an old Bee Gees song to match all that talk you like to throw out with your actual power and wrestling skill.

Hardcore Khan, I�ve gathered from your interviews that �Hardcore� has nothing to do with your in-ring exploits, but rather your in-bed exploits. With that being said, I hope to have a little present for you come Wednesday Night. I�ve still got a couple of calls to make, but with all the effort I�m putting into it, I sure hope you like it.

TJ Raven, to be quite honest I haven�t followed you as closely as a �Student of the Game� such as myself should have. However, I just want to say this: stick by me, and I�ll stick by you. You couldn�t ask for a more loyal ally than Matt Thornhill. Just bring your �A� game, and I�ll bring mine, and we�ll walk out of Lisbon with a �W�.

And finally, Kevin Williams, I don�t keep score. I�m not a Bistiza, so vengeful and revenge-oriented that it drives me�no! That�s not me at all. With that being said, I don�t expect or necessarily want any �officiating help� in this match! I�ve been screwed over too many times collegiately by flaws in the �system�. Three times, I was beaten in the national championship match by a man who was so pumped up on �roids, I buffed up just by skin contact. The problem was, everyone knew he was doing it. And you know what? I hated it. I felt so cheated. I would so much rather lose a match to a guy who just flat-out beat me than one who had to use something not in the rules of the match. I don�t have any desire to win a match by any other means than my own, than those outlined in the rules. You want to make it a no-DQ, hardcore match? That�s fine with me. I�ll gladly use the objects if they�re included in the original billing. But, THAT is what the nickname �The Natural� stands for. Actually, it�s a twofold meaning. Firstly, I feel I was blessed with a great amount of God-given wrestling ability, and I want to use that ability to win my matches. No outside help. Secondly, I want to win my matches �Naturally�, as in the way it was intended. With that being said, I do want to extend a hand and a call to Kevin Williams, if he is listening. If you ever need anything, feel free to get in touch with me, and I�ll see what I can do.

As for everyone else in the CWF, I just want you all to know this: this match is my notice served to all that there is a new man on the scene. A new man who is hungry for success here in the CWF. I�m new here, so I understand that it will take me awhile. However, through hard work, dedication to the sport, and a few good breaks along the way, I�m committed to bringing myself to the top of the heap here in the CWF. Hopefully, I can show some savvy and ring presence far beyond my pro wrestling years, and climb that ladder quickly.

I: Mr. Thornhill, we thank you for your time here today. Anything else you�d like to say to the fans listening over the internet?

T: Only one thing. Come this Wednesday night�Glory�Lisbon, Portugal�the team of TJ Raven and Matt Thornhill WILL WIN�it. Is only. NATURAL!

(Thornhill hangs up the phone, smiles, and finishes packing up his things.)
