Fathers Day was rough at our house too. Thank goodness my daughter is old enough to spend the day at the pool at her friends house, then we went to dinner with another single mom and her daughter. My daughter wanted to egg her 'fathers' house on Father's Day....seriously, she asked me like 3 times if she could (of course I said no). I was told by her best friends mom that my daughter said "well, it's father's day...the last time I saw my dad was exactly one year ago today" (which is true, she made him dinner at his house, then he never called or showed up again). It was rough day for both of us...her b/c she knows her dad is a drug addict who chose drugs over her...and me b/c it is painful to see your child hurt and confused as well as just wanting your little girl to have that daddy that all little girls crave.
These addicts have NO CLUE how much hurt they have caused their children......it's sad and frustrating - as well as brings up intense anger that someone has done this harm to our child(ren).
To all of the strong single mom's out there...Happy fathers day to us!!! :)
