I know I don't seem to write these at anything resembling a "regular" time... I just don't sleep all that much anymore....I appreciate all of you who take the time to read my postings and respond......I can't thank you enough...my son showed up last night (Wed)..at 8:30.. looked dreadful as usual..dirty/pale/lips the size of Texas..shoulders all hunched over.. I asked only if he was ok..he mumbled yes and went to bed.. was passed out in about half an hour..he "sold" his latest #4 cell phone that cost him $114.00 about an hour after he bought it..no appetite of course.. if I had even tried to engage him in any conversation.. would have been a full-blown screaming match on his part..it's never worth it..but he wasn't in the body bag/he is home..sick and all.. but home..I've been off work for three months now..15 robberies in five years.. this last one being kicked by the guy with the crowbar as he passed by me to get to my cash drawer.. still can't quite figure that one out... but.. also realizing that I gave birth to a wonderful young woman on this day in 1970... she died three years ago.. from drug-related trauma... I didn't raise her. it was in the days where you put a child up for adoption.. but we had got to know each other very well for the last eleven years of her life... so.. this is always a hard time of the year for me...I don't know if you can understand how hard it is for me to think I could lose him too... but he is back.. the rules around here are going to change substantially...he CANNOT just come home when he "has" to..he has to attempt to make very real changes to get on top of this. I'm not sure where you are all from.. but I live in Western Canada and our rehab/counselling..support stuff is virtually non-existent unless you have unlimited resources. So.. whatever he does.. it's always going to be a struggle and a lot of time just waiting..but he has to try... from what I could see very quickly when he came in .. he has those lovely horrible swollen/red..almost infected-looking sores.. three I could see in a matter of minutes.....God..don't they get it..??????.. this shit is absolute poison..it takes months..if not years to leave their bodies..if ever... the other thing I don't understand is..as soon as his life appears to be going well.. he seems to be happy/motivated..content..he shoots himself in the foot every single time.....he just lost two different jobs in ten days...that's what prompted this return "downtown".... why..??? do any of you have any idea as to why.. when things are going "well"... they set it up consciously or sub-consciously to destroy it..and a bit of themselves.. time and time again...????????...
Just a question........???
To the woman who's child..(sister)...is in jail.. been there with him too.....and.. please don't feel guilty... it's quite likely the very best place for her to be....as perverse as that sounds........it's a forced detox... can't be a bad thing.......
My thoughts and prayers are with you all
Again.. thank you for your kindnesses
Love and Peace
nancy
