Well, It's done! He did not show up so I went in front of the judge alone. He addressed me personally to ask me if I know why he failed to appear. I told him that I do not know, but believe that he just does not care. I then asked if I could further address the court and was granted so. I explained to the judge briefly how this man had nothing to do with his daughter for the first 10 yrs of her life, I relocated back to KS, then he begged for us to move back with promises of being a father and helping me financially. I explained that he lost his job in Jan. but since then purchased a home and a new BMW, while I struggle to support my daughter and can't afford to buy a home for us. I ended with the fact that he lives 2.5 miles from us and does not see his child nor help me financially. The whole time I was speaking the judge was shaking his head in disbelief. He then granted me the amount the county suggested. I will have to wait some time for it to go into arears (as I KNOW he won't pay), then I will start proceedings for 'contempt of court'. The case before mine was a guy in jailhouse blues handcuffed to the chair -for failure to pay child support -so they are cracking down more on these things -it just takes time.

I was teary eyed when I was addressing the judge. When I left I cried. I have so many emotions today it is hard to explain, but more than anything -I feel that I have done what is right by my daughter at every turn. From moving back here, to court today, it has all been for the best intentions of my child. Her and I have been through so very much and it was somewhat therapuetic to sit in front of a judge and tell my story and be validated. I feel sad for all the hopes we had that are lost, but also content that moving forward we will continue to be fine. It is a new year and I am ready to move past the hurt and anger this man has caused us and begin a new year full of promises and prosperity for my daughter and I.
