Best thing to do is to watch him pee into the container and do not let him handle the specimen in any way. Most of those come with a temp gauge - be sure it's between 90 - 98 degrees, anything more or less may not be good.
Also, do not give him any warning - just get the kits and have him do it making sure he doesn't leave your sight while waiting for him to get enough to pee (don't let him leave the house or area). Lastly, it's important to know that if he becomes defensive or refuses saying something like, "don't you trust me?" - you pretty much know what the results should be without even getting a sample.
I do this (drug testing) professionally and have heard it all not to mention the tricks my ex used to use.
Watching and listening to them - in most cases - is the greatest indicator. I will pray for you
