Hi Doug and everybody else!
Been a long time since I have even visited the site, much less posted.
My wife is still clean and I thank God for that!
It seems our addictive tendencies were unfortunately passed on to our son however and after about 3 years of taking Opiate based pain medications ( hemophilia caused significant joint deterioration ) in a constantly increasing trend, he started injecting Dilaudin about 6 months ago. I saw all the signs and knew all the right things to say, and I sadi them and I talked to him about warning signs I was seeing,,and still here it is.
On July 4th he went to the Emergency room ( 4th trip in last 3 months ). My wife and I pretty much figured out what he was doing but as any good addict will do,,, he lied through his teeth about his use.
He was really scared that night and I really felt bad for him,,,,
but I felt really bad for my wife, and his wife and my liitle Grand Daughter and my soon to be born Grand Daughter.
I asked him to tell me what he was doing and he proceeded to give me the " just wahat the Dr ordered speech". I looked him right in the eye and told him when they called him back he could lie to them like he was lieing to me. A few days or a few weeks or a few months I could meet him right back here at this ER and we could do this same ask-lie rountine again or maybe his mom and I would have the wonderful responsibility of arranging the funeral for our oldest son OR he could go back there and tell the Dr what he was doing and how often and we could start to change the future.
Well, to his credit, that is exactly what he did. Seems he was shooting 2 or so every 3 hours. He got admitted that night to a Short term treatment and went on a new anti-Opiate WD drug. It really eliminated alot of the physical aspects of WD for him. We are about 7.5 days in now and 3 days off the WD drug. They are all staying at my house now. The 2nd baby is just about ready to pop out, my wife crys like a baby every time we are alone, my son is having aniexty/panic attacks ( but they are getting better ) but you know what,, I know it is going to be alright ( easy BT, I can't help it,, I just KNOW, man, I just know).
I have been praying about this a lot and I really feel my prayers ARE being answered. It sure is a switch for my wife. She says she never imagined what it was like from this side of the fence.
Anyway, Doug I am gonna pray for your room mate and everybody else, I still try and keep you in prayer as well.
