Debbie, something very ironic is my drinking has helped me to have some understanding of my son's addiction and empathy for him. And his addiction is a big warning sign for me to not fall into the same quick sand.

I know what you mean about families. My neighbor's have a big family with lots of grand kids and great-grand kids, who are always visiting. On holidays, their yard will be full of cars and their house full of family and love.

I wish they would adopt me :-)
