Usually when children are younger like 3 to 8 I think it is important to let them know, but at 15 and 17, if they are not fighting with dad and have a good relationship I would not rock the boat. If the relationship is bad, very bad then yes let them know and give them info, about addiction and disease. I just fear how they would use the info in there teen peer pressure years, so If there is not a major problem wait until they are 20 and a little more independent. Teens can turn that into a cool thing around their friends and think they may be able to handle the drug. Just my humble opinion but that is a very tough age, at that age they know everything.
