My son is still not home.. no word of course. he has an appt. tomorrow (Fri)... at 1:00 with his d/a counsellor. He's had four appt. so far.. made two and blew two off.
He is supposed to be signing papers etc. to get him on a list for a recovery situation. Even if he shows up between now and then, he'll be too sick to go. His use is accelerating..he was only home for four days this time/waited until the burns on his lips came down and looked a bit less ugly and was off again the fourth night.
This is a definite increase in his time downtown and by his condition when he gets home ... his use also.
There is a program on A & E ... I think called Interventions... of course they are all people with money who can send the child across the country to stay in private detox/recovery situations.. and the few I've seen, the mini-sequel at the end shows the young woman/man looking/feeling wonderful..etc.etc..
Does anyone know if they actually work ?? What I want to do is show up tomorrow for this appt. that I KNOW he will not make.. approach the counsellor and talk to him about it. I don't even know if they do them here.. I have no money or anything that would resemble the ones you see on tv. but... my hope is that there is something the equivalent that we could do here.I have no idea even if they will let me speak to this person... I want no other info. on anything confidential re: his few conversations with my son. I strictly want to find out about the process/availability of doing one. That's all I want to know. If I call them to book a time to see someone else, I would have to wait weeks and weeks and I don't think I can. If it's a no go for some reason, then at least I'll know. If it can happen, then my feeling is the worst that can happen is he'll just storm out the door and life goes on as it is. The best, is that maybe he would actually do it. I am so confused and so heartbroken and so scared for him right now. I know in my heart that if this does keep excelerating, he will go downtown one night and not come home. In the last three months he's had four of his "friends" murdered. It's a complete war zone down there.
If someone has the time, would you be kind enough to comment on this for me. I just don't know enough about it. Has anyone tried it and if so, what was the outcome..?? or is it just another TV "special" that makes A & E money..????????
If nothing changes, I am going to have to make a decision on whether he stays or goes. I am terrified that he will be injured or worse if he goes.. and that I have no idea when I would see him again. I almost lost him once, I just don't know if I could do it again. I also understand completely what you are all saying.. I have to let him go..it just feels as though it's the hardest thing I've ever had to decide.......
Thank you again.. always and ever for your assistance.
I'll await any suggestions....
Love and Peace
Nancy
