Interventions do work...sometimes. it may or may not be the *moment!* when your son realizes *I want to stop using more then I want to use*.
They have really got to hit rock bottom. some rock bottoms are only trap doors that open until they die.
if *someone* went to the funeral homes around there and got brochures so the next time you see your son, tell him you need his attention for a few minutes. for addicts, it's always all about them. tell him you wouldn't want to give him a crappy funeral, so he can plan it right now. with a travel brochure, so you can explain "after the funeral, I am taking a vacation because my life, and everyone else's will still go on, just not yours". i know it boarders on cruel, but it might hit a reality cell in his brain.
i have often wondered if it is againest the law to lock someone in a room with water and snacks for a few weeks to detox. short of holding them againest their will, i don't see someone getting clean unless they want to. if your son keeps the appointment, he's in. if he doesn't, he will use, you will worry, the cycle will continue until someone or something breaks it.
