AFTER 4 YEARS AS A MILITARY WORKING DOG HANDLER I CROSS TRAINED INTO PEST CONTROL AND FOR THE NEXT 17 YEARS USED MALATHION AS A MOSQUITO FOG, RESIDUAL SPRAY ON VEGETATION FOR CATERPILLARS, APHIDS AND OTHER INSECTS. MOST KENNEL MASTERS WOULD ALSO SET UP A PROGRAM FOR THE TREATMENT OF THE ACTUAL KENNEL AND TRAINING AREAS TO CONTROL TICKS. A YEAR AT MALMSTROM AND 4 AT YOKOTA WERE THE ONLY BASES WHERE I WAS THAT IT WAS NOT USED AS A FOG. AT CLARK, WHERE I DID 2 TOURS TOTALLING 7 YEARS IN CE AND 15 MONTHS AS A DOG HANDLER IN 76-77 WE FOGGED EVERY WEEK NIGHT. DURING THE DENGUE FEVER OUTBREAK OF 1984 THE ENTIRE VALLEY WAS FOGGED USING PERSONNEL TDY FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. THIS TYPE CHEMICAL MAY CAUSE THE CHLORESTENASE WHICH TRANSMITS MESSAGES FROM ONE NERVE TO ANOTHER TO DETERIORATE. WE WERE GIVEN LIVER FUNCTION TESTS (SGOT)EVERY 6 MONTHS DURING OUR TIME IN THE CAREER FIELD. SO THERE WERE MANY POSSIBLE EXPOSURES. Author: William H Garrett [ Edit | View ]	Date Posted: 19:35:18 11/04/02 Mon They fogged the place where I was in 1972, Udorn RTAFB. Smelly stuff. I now work at Moffett Fed.Airfield and some nights one can smell the same thing, but I think its because of low tide in the SF Bay.

Date Posted: 10:26:19 11/15/04 Mon I was stationed at Camp Friendship at Korat and later at Camp Samae San at Sattahih from Nov '67 ti Nov '69. I don't remember if the nightly sprayings were done at Korat, but do remember the nightly spraying and Samae San. I have been suffering from neuropathy in both arms and legs. Also have ringing in my left ear almost constantly and ocassionally in the right. This has been going on for 5 years or more. My Doctors can't find any cause and no medications have helped. I am still able to work at present, but wonder at time how long I can continue.
