I was stationed at Utapao Air Force Base from July '69 to July '70. I was with the 635th Munitions Maintenance Squadron on the Line Delivery Crew. I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer back in 2000 and had prostrate surgery to have it removed. It was not until I applied for veteran's disability benefits for my hearing problems did I know of any "presumptive exposure" from Agent Orange that could be associated with my tour of duty in Thailand. I filed a claim for tinnutis, bilateral hearing loss, and for prostrate cancer. I was awarded 10% disability for tinnutis, 0% for bilateral hearing loss, and my claim was denied for prostrate cancer. They had no record of me being in Vietnam. After reviewing my records, I found a copy of my travel voucher that shows on the 2nd page, although very lightly that I did land in Saigon, Vietnam on 1 July 1969. I have filed an appeal with the Veterans Administration to reconsider my case based on additional evidence that I had come up with. I would like to know if you have had any luck with finding any evidence of "herbicides" being used in Thailand. Were you stationed at Utapao? I would like to hear your comments. Thanks, Steve [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
