I was stationed at Ubon RTAFB 8th FMS from Aug 70-Aug 71. I remember the bug sprayers coming around and fogging up the areas. My barracks (cinder block)was also across the street from the perimeter and the closest to the water tower.. And as you say the fog would come into the barracks and the next day we had dead bugs everyplace. I would walk to work next to the perimeter. Here I could see trip flares and claymore mines under the wire. (There was a Thai Village on the other side of the wire>). Then I would turn to go up the road to the bomb dump. There was wire on both side of the road. About halfway up the road I'd cut through a hole in the wire, there was no vegetation here. There was a watch tower and a sand bag bunker. I would continue to the Jet Engine Test Cell, my duty station. Also the aircraft trim pad was located next to the test cell. I need some one to write me a letter stating that AO was used where I was walking. Thank you.
