Subject: Haunting, The Rising Sun Pub, WInchester, Hampshire, England.

After reading online about The Rising Sun Public House in Winchester we decided to go and investigate. We stopped by for a quiet half, hoping to soak up the chilling atmosphere. It was spooky, very much so, and we felt a presence the whole time. My hubby went to use the gents and heard a distant ghostly screaming noise coming from nearby (could that be one of the ghosts who was put to death in the cellar in the days the cellar was a dungeon?). Whilst he was using the facilities an old gentleman came to sit at my table and chat... very mysterious. The guy almost looked like a ghost and had muffled speech - his top lip was half missing and it was difficult to understand what he was saying - now we're wondering if he was real or just a ghostly figure roaming the premesis! The place was almost empty, barr two bar staff (not actually behind the bar itself), the old gent (who mumbled many stories of the hauntings), and a drunkard guy who looked in his 20's and was staying in the apparently haunted room 3... looked like a right ruffian/drunk, and probably too obstinate to even hear (let alone worry about) the hauntings.

We took a digital photo of the place. Strange thing is we were being watched for quite some time before we even entered the pub.... the old guy said he'd spotted us walking up the road and wondered what we were doing as there's nothing up that steep hill - we were actually there taking a photo of the place, but it felt weird to know he was watching our every movement.

Which haunted pubs have you been in, and were there any particularly ghostly ones? We'd be interested to hear your tales. Congrats on a cool website by the way.

Regards,

Yvonne and Dan
