I live in Oxfordshire but my husband's family are from East Anglia (Henney and Sudbury etc). The Mill Hotel (or I believe that is what it's called) (converted mill) has had a few odd things happening as recalled by my husband's aunt who worked there in the 80's.

You may know this....on renovating the old mill a mummified cat was found, when it was removed a fire started, then the car in which it was transported had an accident, so they put the cat back. It is in a coffin like box covered with a glass lid, and can be found in the reception area, under a flap of carpet in the floor. I have viewed it, and saw a creamy white coloured cat with it's neck turned as if it was going to lick itself.

Some workmen also refused to carry on as their tools moved! Hope you find this of interest.

Also the Roman Centurion on the causeway to Mersea has been seen as you know but my husband's uncle has lived on Mersea Island for many years and has driven across the causeway at night and has never seen a thing. He probably went on the wrong nights!

When I visited Borley Rectory site, just the church, I took some photos and they were printed back to front.

All the best, wish I could join you all. Yvonne Weavers.
