As a costume historian I found it interesting - the figure seemed to be dressed as a sixteenth century woman, possibly an attending lady at Court in her morning dress - very fine and heavy cloth.

Basically, for a hoax the clothes would have been time-consuming to research and expensive to put together to achieve this result. And that is even before one considers the "bone" appearance of the face and hands.
