Mike Greene goes ape in the studio because his wife is being hurt, Craig Charles goes ape on the street because he can't get in the house (Pipes won't let him).
Parkinson gets possessed in the studio which starts to blow up and it ends with him speaking weirdly to a broken camera.
They also laced the screen shots of the house so when say, Greene is talking to the camera you glimpse a shadowy tall evil looking figure standing the corner, the viewer was meant to spot these and jump, and for most show the cast in the house pretended there was nothing there...until things get worse. There was also something about the ghost getting into the machinery (this is why the studio get affected.
Firstly understand it was a scripted drama NOT a live event.
It was commissioned by the BBCs' drama department to give Halloween a spooky night.
It was billed as 'Screen one presents: Ghostwatch UK'
Screen One was the flagship drama slot of the day.
It also had a cast list the the Radio Times Listing Parky and all the rest as playing themselves - which the did well.
It was never a hoax really, its just that no one expected the likes of Parky to act (even if it was as himself).

I watched it at the time and came to the conclusion within about 20 or 30 mins that it was either a hoax or the little girls were simply play acting (they would suddenly scream and then present a new scratch claiming the ghost had done it.
I 'phoned a relative at the time and asked what did they make of it (at the early points in the story nothing much happened it just looked like a normal show of that type you see). I wasn't buying it though, the relative then said that the Radio Times she had displayed a cast list underneath thats how I know that.

It was actually quite good, I saw it again about 2 years ago after a work collegue and I were talking about it and she then told me much to my delight that she had video taped it.

The BBC had to make an apology because apparently people believed, and I imagine this is why I have never seen it repeated.
