Subject: Ghost Programme Transmitted on 31/10/1991

An earlier thread mentioned a programme on TV but could not remember the name.

The programme in question was called Ghostwatch and was transmitted live by the BBC on 31st October 1992. The show was hosted by Michael Parkinson from a TV studio in London.

The "show" was about a family who had been plagued by poltergeist activity in their home. The BBC sent a live film crew to the house to report on any unusual paranormal activity. One of these reporters was Maggie Philbin and the "family" were actors.

Throughout the evening, many incidents incurred, including one of the film crew going missing in the basement and Maggie Philbin reported these and others directly via camera link to Michael Parkinson in the studio. The specially invited guests with Michael Parkinson came from all areas of the paranormal world.

The ending was incredibly dramatic in that the poltergeist seemed to "visit" the live studio and started to smash cameras and the main studio lighting system. The finale was Michael Parkinson becoming "possessed" by the poltergeist by taking on its voice as his own, staring into the camera and spoke to the viewing public whilst the studio was plunged into darkness - transmission was then immediately cut.

The BBC was heavily reprimanded as one person tragically committed suicide.

I know this as my brother's then best friend was the sound recordist on the BBC Film Crew at the house.
