Harm with poltergeists is usually just pinching, hairpulling, and chucking you out of bed. Sort of supernatural girlfriends really. No-one was ever killed by a poltergeist, but there is a Scottish legend of an old woman who got dragged out the house and nearly drowned by a ghost. However, that particular story ended in the ghost being scared off by a vicar after losing a singing competition, so I wouldn't really worry about it.
