Subject: Paralysis

Like Brian, I have had similar episodes. I would however, like to point out that I HAVE NEVER heard voices. About once a month, after I have fallen asleep (I am a deep sleeper)I wake up in the dead of night and suddenly feel a tingling run from the base of my spine to my shoulders. I too, seem momentarily paralysed. However,as soon as I realise I can force myself to move and the sensation disappears.

Personally, I feel that there is a physiological explanation.... as I am a medical student. But a few years ago, my younger sister said that she saw someone looking at her from my bedroom as she walked down the front steps.... but then entered the house to find no-one there. The only physiological explanation I can think of is a complex partial seizure. A very minor 'petit mal' localised to one area of the brain. This, I feel is unlikely as I have no other Neurological defecits. However, Brian this could explain some of your symptoms. My only suggestion is seek medical advice from your GP.
