Subject: Footsteps

Every few often, when I am home alone, I here footsteps. I was once upstairs doing homework and I heard some footsteps walking in my kichen. Thinking it was my parents arriving home, I ran downstairs. No one was there. Another time, I heard the same thing when I was in bed. My parents and sister were upstairs sleeping and I again heard footsteps walking around in the kichen, I opened the door and saw that the light was on in the hallway, but saw no one. Is it my imagination? Am I going crazy? Please give me some answer or explanation. Thanks
