Lee - try York. In my opinion it is the most haunted city in England - York Minster is a must - you can't sleep there but you are guaranteed to see/sense things on the left hand side as you go in.

I have been myself and sensed things - and I know lots of people who too have experienced it.

There are also reports of Roman soldiers marching through the streets and a tavern in York - you only see their top halves, because the height of the road is different now.
