In my opinion, Local Control is essential. No buts. It is very important for community involvement, school boards and public school choice to exist within the state of Vermont and federaly. Bush is putting more government involvement into our educational system. Thanks but no thanks. I love government, but I don't want them dictating what my kid's teacher's do when they have never met them.

What's next, the government telling teachers what to teach?

The "No Child Left Behind Act" needs to be repealed and local control given back to the states.

And what is this about kids reading at age 3? Bush wants them to start reading at this age. Kids will start to read when they are ready, not at a specific age.

And his wife is an educator for god sakes, you think he would have a better idea about education and how it functions on the local level.
