Republicans in general fall into a trap of talking to people as if they care about the details of policy. They speak of policy from the perspective of business, what can be gained and what the costs are. They have the ideas and policies that will actually help fix some of our longtime problems but the thing is that people respond emotionally not intellectually when it comes to politics. Soundbytes rule and indepth analysis drool. Republicans like Meub and McMullen need to learn to connect with people on an emotional level and not be afraid to get down and dirty with their opponents. Republicans do not need to lie like Democrats and throw around slogans like " they want to starve the elderly" or what have you but they do need to learn to put their ideas in a package that moves people emotionally. I just read somewhere that Republicans fight the policy war but they need to learn to fight the political war in order for them to even get to a position that allows them to fight for policy.

On a side note, we have so many programs these days that serve only to cover up problems, to extend problems indefinitely, to divide people etc and that cost loads of cash. The real solutions would take a lot of hard work, team work, integrity, and yes even money but no one seems to be willing to stand up to the special interests that seem more interested in the continuation of many of our problems for personal gain than in solving the problems.
