I am glad to see and read that not all gun owners are responsible fo murders as Marylin clearly conceded in her posting. The point is, much of the gun-control/gun confiscation groups want to disarm ALL gun owners who want to protect themselves from those who do have guns for illegal purposes such as murder and other felonies. This is the trouble many law abiding citizens have with the gun-control people. Gun controllers have too many groups within that have their own "agendas" what they want done as far as enactment of laws. The is too may captains that want to stir the proverbial "broth". (gun-control agenda)
In the case of gun-controllers liken to Rosie O'Donnell and Hollywood types, they want no access to guns at all, including those who are law abiding. They want gun manufacturers and gun owners denied constitutional rights which is guaranteed in the Second Amendment. In the case of former United States Senator Howard Metzenbaum (D)-Ohio he wanted all off duty and retired police officers (women and men) to be disarmed. Of course, never mind if anyone who they may have incarcerated during their time in law enforcement can follow them home and murder these same officers and their families in their own homes. They won't have access to a gun for self defense purposes if the agenda of Metzenbaum would ever be enacted as law. Metzenbaum tried to push for this legislation nationwide when he was a United States Senator from Ohio. Republican and Democrats laughed at his proposal during Metzenbaum's reign as United States Senator. The gun control movement is made up with too many "politically correct" sorts that can attain much of their agenda because of the political lefts hatred for individual gun ownership. There is too many "nuts" involved in the gun-control movement who want their own bit of "agenda" inacted for their own dubious reasons; that I have problems with. These reasons do not befit what this country is all about. Getting back to the illustration of one former United States Senator Howard Metzenbaum (D)-Ohio. Even so when he introduced his measure, moderate liberals in the United States Senate rejected his legislation as radical, reckless and out of the mainstream of public opinion. These United States Senators included Sen. Hubert H. Humphrey (D)-Minnesota; Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson (D)-Washington State and Sen. John Glenn (D)-Ohio.
In essence the gun-control movement is made up with oddballs and other sorts that should be dismissed as what they are, leftwing socialist extreme and not in the best traditions of this country.
