Some ideas from a staunch Democrat:

a) Listen to what the Progs have to say. Try to understand their frustration with the Democratic Party.

b) Work harder at grassroots organizing. (read Paul Welstone's autobiography for more on this.)

c) Work to take the $$ out of politics. In today's world, more money means more votes 90% of the time. Our democracy has been put up for sale. It is time to put an stop to this.

d) Stand for what we believe. When we reach too far to the right, our traditional base is alienated.

e) Listen to what the Progs have to say.
