Yes; but it twas the liberal media along with the New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle and the Washington Post that kep harping about Trent Lott and his statements he made.
Still I have to wonder why they persist to give a "free pass" to Sen. Robert F. Byrd (D)-West Virginia when it came to his recruiter status of the KKK many years ago in West Virginia.
Let a Republican be found in this same situation; the howls would never end by these same liberal media monoliths. Enough illustrated!
