1. NAME

1.1 The name of the organization shall be known as the North West Great Hunger Memorials Committee, hereafter referred to as ‘the Group’.


2 . AIMS - The Advancement of Education


2..1 The objects of the Group are to advance the education of the public by the study of the period 1845—1853 in Ireland’s history known as An Ghorta Mhor / “The Great Hunger”


3. STRUCTURE

3.1 In furtherance of the above objects, but not further or otherwise, the Group may:

3.1.1 provide, maintain and equip or assist in the provision, maintenance and equipment of premises and facilities designed to carry out the objects of the Group;


3.1.2 Promote and carry out, or assist in promoting and carrying out research, surveys and investigations and publish the use ful results thereof;


3.1.3 Organize or assist in organising meetings, lectures, classes, exhibitions, and publish or assist in publishing reports, periodicals, recordings, books or other documents or information;


3.1.4 Obtain, collect and receive money by way of grants, donations, bequests, legacies or other lawful method, and make or disburse grants or loans to any charitable organisation whose objects are related to the above objects, provided that the Group shall not undertake any substantial permanent trading activities and shall conform to any relevant requirements of the law;


3.1.5 Purchase, take or lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal property and any rights and privileges necessary for the promotion of the above objects and construct, maintan and alter any buildings or erections which the Group may think necessary for the promotion of its objects;
3.1.6 Make any regulations for any property whichmay be so acquired;


3.1.7 Subject to any concents as may be required by law, sell, let, mortgage, dispose of or turn to acount all or any of the property or assets of the Group with a view to the furtherance of its objects;


3.1.8 Subject to any consents as may be required by law receive money in such a manner as the Group shall think fit and to charge all or part of the property of the Group with repayment of money so borowed;


3.1.9 Invest the moneys of the Group not immediately required for the furtherance of the said objects in or upon such investments, securities or property as may be thought fit, subject nevertheless to such conditions (if any) as may for the time being be imposed or required by law;


3.1.10 Recruit and train volunteers withrelevant skills to carry out the objects of the Group;


3.1.11 Promote and organise co-operation in the achievement of the above objects and to that end to work in association with local authorities and voluntary organisations engaged in the furtherance of the above objects in the area of benefit;


3.1.12 Do all such other lawful things as may be necessary for the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
