Ted, The Kaufman Gardens and Memorial is located near the Plaza in Kansas City, Mo. You can probably walk through it in an hour. It's not like the gardens you find that covers acres and acres. I have seen some of those. The most beautiful area for gardens I have seen is in Victoria, B.C. You will walk for hours there. There is also a beautiful estate in Mobile, Alabama (I think it's Mobile)where the founder of Coke had an estate. I wish I could remember the name of that place, but it is well worth seeing if you have an interest in seeing beautiful gardens.

I do understand what you mean about the Civil War talk. We have sat under that too. I believe I mentioned Williamsburg, Virginia that is such a beautiful area, but those folks are still reliving Civil War days. It is amazing what they have done in that area for tourists.

I personally think Virginia is a beautiful state to visit. There is MUCH Civil War history to be found there.
