I've just found this site and found all the comments very interesting,to say the least. I bought the above car brand new on 1st June 2002,after 17 years of driving various VW Golfs. (I ended my long term relationship with them as,basically, their Customer Services were CRAP)

I think it is a fabulous car although I do agree with everyone that there is a great deal of oil consumed. When I mentioned this to the salesman prior to me purchasing it,he said it was the first he had heard of it. With that said, what is all the fuss about??

I reckon I use about 1 litre every 1000 miles and when you consider this against the extra mpg over a year,it must work out at extra pennies. I actually have a small sticker on my speedometer/rev counter prompting me to check the oil every 500 miles as I've heard some sorry stories of some people running dry and having to fork out a couple of grand for a new engine.

Basically,I would advise anyone to do their research before buying such an investment so they can make up their own mind. Check my review on the car at :- www.ciao.co.uk/Vauxhall_Zafira_Elegance_2_0_dti_Review_5322890/SortOrder/2

Having been with VW fo such a long while,I was not sure if buying a Vauxhall was the right thing to do. However,30 months later I am still as delighted to own & drive it as I was when I purchased it. I feel a lot of people on this site are being too harsh on Vauxhall (And no,I don't work for them!)

One thing I must ask. I have quite a bad rattle coming from the dashboard and I am unable to find a cure for it. Does anyone have any ideas/solutions.

Happy motoring ............
