Given the weather so far this year I'd say any longer than about 5-6 mins would not only wash the brain but probably disolve it. Really drizzly here at the moment although we've had a few nice days when you least expect them and can't do anything with them.

Less toxic? Well as long as the builders aren't producing massive clouds of dust as they grind lumps of stone to shape while they gently construct the extension.
