Subject: Forks

I also heard on the Radio that people use forks differently in Europe and America.

Over here (UK) we cut our food with a knife held in one hand and spear and eat the food with a fork, held simulteneously in the other hand. According to the programme, in the USA people tend to cut thir food with a knife and fork first, then use only a fork to spear and eat with, leaving one hand free. Making smaller cuts with the edge of the fork as they progress through the meal.

I wonder if that is widespread?
