I have just returned from New York and discovered that few high calibre establishments cater for vegetarians in anything other than a perfunctory manner. It surprised me; I had thought that this city was particularly inclusive.

Contrary to Sir James Francis' strident opinion, 'vegetarian' is NOT a synonym for wierdo or hippy but a description of someone who doesn't like eating meat. There is no reverse term, to cover those who only eat meat and not any vegetables although it would be very easy to find meals in restaurants to suit this group.

Let's see establishments offer a proper choice of good indulgent foods that do not include meat as the central building block.
