Date Posted: 21:28:18 05/08/03 Thu Well, it appears that all the action out Gibson Park way this week is off the field. As the result against Uni will be an open and shut case (that is a 'pun' on the 'Books' for all those imbeciles south of Bulli Pass) let us move our attention to news in the paparazzi haven that is Gibson Park. Word on the street is that the little engine that could, the flying Dutchman, the angry ant, that's right Gibbo's favourite son Matt Roodenrys has offered his services to World Country Championship winning coach Jones as cover for the team during the hectic representative schedule. In an exclusive for Butchermail coach Jones said, "We are delighted to have a player of Matthew's class available to us at this time. His go forward, high workrate and underrated passing and kicking game will be a valuable asset. Given Martin Sedgwick's absence from the rep scene I think the Dutchman is just the tonic to shorten up the hair tinting turncoat. I'm sure this is news that Sedge did not want to hear." A modest Roodenrys has broken his three-year media ban to speak to us and read from a written statement: "I'm delighted to assist the Butchers during the rigours of the representative season. Although I can only help out for a short period of time it will no doubt give me the opportunity to reach a last frontier presented to me by the defection of a well known red headed forward to the Bulls. On this matter all I have to say is this 'Goliath - David has picked up his rocks and the slingshot is at the ready'." Sedgwick declined to comment. In other breaking news Shamrocks, Illawarra and former Parramatta rugby union star Scott Ryan has joined the Butchers this week. Ryan joins his former Shamrocks centre partner Ben Morgan at Thirroul. Butchers veteran Todd Grose has vowed that he will hold another Shamrock, former Butcher junior Chris Doyle, to his 1992 vow that he will have a final fling with the butchers before retiring. Can the Butchers get any stronger? It is obvious club loyalty is high given the club can fit so much talent under the salary cap. Coach Jones concluded, "If we got Glen Air's ego under the cap, then the rest should not be a problem." [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
