I was at the game and from my vantage point it was a real struggle to tell the teams apart. The appalling pitch conditions denied everyone of the chance to witness the likes of Toddy Grose in full flight. The greying veteran may have lost a yard or 2 over the years but he still brings the fans to their feet with with his blistering pace and classy footwork. The subject of ground conditions brings me to my next point. The continued cancellations of local Junior League fixtures have not gone down well with one fan in particular. Since retiring from the game a few years ago, he has developed a keen interest in Kids football, watching them go round each week brings a Sparkle to his eye. Imagine his disgust when he ventured down to Gibson Park last Saturday morning to watch the under 9's, only to arrive to an empty gound. Shame on you council...
